1959 - 61: Started playing in bands as a semi-pro in 1958. Turned professional in 1960, working in theatres all over the UK with many big names of the day, as well as doing many BBC radio broadcasts.

1961 - 63: Founder member of THE TORNADOS. Initially, in-house studio session band for the famous record producer Joe Meek. Played on many of Joe Meek’s hit records by John Leyton, Mike Berry, Billie Davis, Don Charles etc.

Early 1962: “The Tornados” became new backing band for Billy Fury with sell-out Rock & Roll tours and summer seasons. With Billy Fury/The Tornados topping the bill other artists on the shows included Marty Wilde, Joe Brown, John Leyton, Karl Denver Trio, Susan Maugham, Shane Fenton, The Vernon’s Girls and many more. Played to packed theatres everywhere, plus major concerts at Wembley, The Albert Hall and Earls Court.

THE TORNADOS started recording as an instrumental band. First hit was TELSTAR which reached No.1 (6 weeks) in the UK in September 1962. Became the first British band to reach No.1 (5 weeks) in the USA in early 1963, then on to No.1 in most countries. Worldwide sales of Telstar (single) reached 9 million copies. Followed this with 5 more chart singles, 5 chart EPs and 2 albums – remember them?

1963 - 72: Studio session work in all the major recording studios in London, worked with people like George Martin, Burt Bacharach, Tony Hatch, Lulu, Paul Anka, Jackie de Shannon, Marianne Faithful, Peter & Gordon, The Tremolos etc.

1972 - 84: Had a recording studio and record pressing factory.

1996 – 2004: Played in South West band “Rough Terrain” which included Jodie West.

2004 – 2010: Whilst living in Spain played in Rock & Roll band “Freeway”

2010 onwards Teamed up once again with Jodie West and formed new band THE LYRICS along with Terry, Jamie and Jon....

By the way, please don’t ask us to play Telstar, we don’t do it… It was 50 years ago after all!
